World's Whitest Kitchen

Do not panic...this is only the primer. I did not select "hospital white" as my final choice. You do nearly have to squint when you're in the kitchen and have all the lights on. Quite blinding! But I do LOVE white!!

Tomorrow is another day of sanding the cabinetry for the 143rd time. Hopefully all sanding will end by tomorrow afternoon and we can move on to the real paint color. I sound as if I have selected the real paint color...which I have not. I do not have a sample of our countertops which means I cannot select a white for the cabinetry. Frustrating! I am hoping that this week will produce lots of progress and I'll have tons of updates each day....wishful thinking??

Not the smoothest transition, but I must share that both Jones and London were dunked in the swimming pool yesterday for the first time and I nearly had a heart attack. I know that babies apparently have the instinct to hold their breathe under water if being quickly dunked, but I was pretty certain somehow mine were born not knowing this.

Fortunately, I was proven wrong and both babies survived just fine. Here's London coming back out of the water. We did not capture Jones' "dunking" on camera. I only allowed 1 dunk per baby as my anxiety level was extremely high at this point.

Happy Father's Day!

We had a fabulous day last Sunday celebrating the amazing men in our lives. Happy Father's Day to David, my daddy, David's dad, and Papa!

I suppose we are an unoriginal family as we headed out for...you guessed it...BURGERS! This time we went to a burger joint in Plano that Jennifer said had been around forever. It was fabulous!

I am so blessed to have these men in my life!

David is an absolutely fabulous Daddy...but I already knew he would be. He loves his babies so much and works hard to provide for all of us. The babies LOVE when he gets home from work and reach out their little arms for him constantly. I love to watch the 3 of them interact with each other. They get TONS of kisses from their daddy!

Yes, Jones is drinking from a pink cup...sorry, Jones!
Jones and London recently visited Sherman to see David's dad, Papaw. They made themselves at home and crawled all over the place getting into everything. Before we headed out to a hibachi restaurant for their entertainment, they got some cuddle time together!

My granddaddy, Papa, was able to be in town for both Jones and London's 1st birthday AND Father's Day. How wonderful! The babies just loved him and were very excited to show off their crawling and pulling-up skills to Papa. It is so wonderful to see them together.

I can't even begin to write about my adoration and respect I have for my own daddy. It would take me all day! He is a man of God and has lived a life that is based upon action and not just talk. He is an excellent role model to have and has always been there for me. I know he will always be there for Jones and London too. He often tells me what an amazing treat life is with grandchildren...he never knew it would be this good!

That's right...this Grampas even goes to music class!

Breaking News

OK, people...we have CABINETRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Last night felt like Christmas Eve to David & I as we fell asleep. We were so excited for this morning to arrive! I worked this morning for Lynn, so I didn't see the install in progress. But I got updates from Nana on the quick progress they were making! They had everything installed before lunch. The cabinetry is BEAUTIFUL and I am thrilled to see it painted.

The picture above shows the corner that used to be a hall closet.

I had to include this idiotic picture of me running through the kitchen.
I think I'm a little excited?

On a side note, Missy awoke the other night at about 9:30 crying her eyes out. This is very rare so I rushed into her room to see tears streaming down her face and her little outstretched arms in her crib. How could I resist?! I assume she had a bad dream. I took her in to David's office where he was on his computer. He grabbed his girl, stopped reading dirt bike forums, and searched for "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" on youtube for her. Pretty sweet, huh?

standSTILL

We have hit a total standstill in the kitchen remodel and it's getting difficult to handle! No work has been done on the kitchen for 2 weeks!!! We are waiting for kitchen cabinetry still and I am getting impatient. Everyone warned me before we began that everything ALWAYS takes longer than they predict. The cabinets are set to be installed next week...not sure what day. Fingers are crossed.

We are in the process of selecting countertops which I am getting VERY excited about. I am obsessed with marble and would die for it in the kitchen, but it is extremely impractical and know it is not an option. Therefore, I have been looking for granite that looks like marble, but essentially there is no such thing. We are exploring other options and we are now obsessed with natural quartzite. (notice I love to use the term "obsessed") Of course quartzite just so happens to be more expensive and my luck is the color of slab we want is all sold out in the whole metroplex. (apparently there are others that are also obsessed with quartzite) I have no idea what we'll do to find some, but I am going to let the contractors worry about that one.

On a different note, the babies took a visit to the mall play area today with Nana and I. It was swamped with kids of all ages. I felt like mine were the youngest and the least mobile. Children were jumping and flipping off of equipment, and Jones and London were mesmerized by it while Nana & I were stressed out about it.

The good news is Jones met his first girlfriend today, so that's exciting news. This little cutie literally ran up to him like they were long lost friends, got down on his level and started hugging him and patting his head. (she did try to put her thumbs in his eyes which is odd but luckily her mother put a stop to that) I haven't pulled my pics from today so I will post some Nana sent me.
