Home Sweet Home

The twins have been home a week and a half already and man, has time flown by!  Every time I turn around, I am feeding the babies.  Literally!  They are 100% bottle fed now, yet still are not experts on latching...which makes for some messy & lengthy feeding times.  They are getting better though!  

Here are the twins right when we arrived home from the hospital.  I know you can't see their outfits well, but they each have on a onesie that has their name embroidered across their chest.  I originally wanted them to wear traditional "fancy" coming home outfits, but I wasn't ever able to find anything small enough that I liked.  So we decided to go the casual route!

We then moved the twins to their bassinet which they are sharing.  We keep it in our room for now and they will eventually move into their big red cribs!

Here is their first bath at home with Mommy & Daddy.  We didn't have a clue as to what we were doing and they both eventually got fussy as I think they were freezing.  Whoops!

We had lots of fun visitors this weekend...Brooke, Jathan, & Peyton came Saturday and Jessy, Ryan, Jackson, Breck & Derek all came yesterday!  The babies slept through the visits but I just know they were so glad all of you came!  (hehe)

David finally had to go back to work today (NOOOO!!) so Nana stayed most of the night last night to help me with feedings.  It was very much appreciated and I actually got some sleep in between feedings since she kept the babies in the other room.  Granny & Grampas will be over soon to help me this afternoon....man, it's nice to have your parents close by!!!!

COMING HOME DAY!!

May 21st was a very special day.  Jones Raymond and London Ann were discharged from the hospital and were introduced to their new home with Mommy and Daddy.  It was one of the most special days of my life, and you can tell from the smile plastered on my face that I am pretty happy!

Connie took video of David and I leaving the hospital.  I put one of my favorite praise songs as the background music called "New Creation".  This song is actually referring to the Bible verse 2 Corinthians 5:17...but I also think it's neat that the lyrics are referring to a new creation, which is exactly what Jones and London are.  God truly has blessed David & I with these new creations.  Even though we are exhausted from "round the clock" feedings, we wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

I also wanted to include a couple of photos of the completed nursery!  I'll probably throw up a couple more pictures later on, but here are 2 that gives you a good idea of what it looks like.  I had lots of fun decorating it and figuring out something that would work for a boy AND a girl.  :)

Our feeding tubes are out of our noses!!!! Yippee!! That means we are eating all of our bottles. And the BEST news yet is that we get to go home tomorrow to live with Mommy and Daddy!

David and I get to "room in" with them tonight as a practice round of doing everything on our own. We are so excited. We will be taking plenty of pictures tomorrow of their homecoming so stay tuned for those pictures. And Friday we are having a party with the family so additional pictures to follow.

Telling Secrets

We caught the twins telling secrets the other day!!! London is already starting to gossip and Jones was acting VERY interested & shocked in the news she was sharing.

I wish I could report that the babies are home, but I can't. :( They are still working on bottle feeding and it's just taking some time. (a little longer than I expected!) The nurses and doctors keep saying to really shoot for around your due date, but I was certain they would get home before then. We shall see!

They have made some great progress the past 2 days. In fact, both babies took 5 out of 8 bottles FULLY the past 24 hours. That means we only have 3 more bottles to master. Come on, kids...you can do it!!

Current weights on the babies....

Jones - 5 lbs. 10.7 oz.

London - 5 lbs. 13.8 oz.

Happy Mother's Day!

Even though it looks like Jones is about to roll out of my arms, I promise he's not!

Today was my FIRST Mother's Day, and what a GREAT day it was! "Jones & London" were very generous with beautiful PINK tulips and BLUE irises. I also received a BEAUTIFUL diamond cross necklace that is exactly what I wanted! The babies' birthstones are diamonds (lucky me) and this necklace is one I can wear everyday. :)

After the whole family met at Twisted Root for burgers, we headed to the hospital to see the babies! They were doing great. Granny and Nana changed diapers and took their temperatures. Then David and I gave them their 2:00 bottle feeding. Both babies did great with their feedings, but didn't finish the entire bottles. It's hard work!!! Jones ended up spitting up quite a bit a little after...with a ton of milk coming out of his nose. This, of course, made Mommy a little freaked out!!! I'm sure he forgot about it within 2 seconds, but I couldn't get over it quite as quickly. :) I know it sounds silly, but I have been having a really hard time relaxing about giving the babies their bottles. Because they don't have the skill of eating figured out yet, I hate that they struggle so much with it. They typically do little bursts of sucks and then have to breathe really heavy and fast for a bit cause it's so hard for them to suck and swallow. Jones tends to be a pretty good sucker, but forgets to swallow so it rolls out the side of his mouth. :( And I REALLY hate when they get too much in their throat and they start coughinng it up...stresses Mommy out!

The doctor has NOT heard London's murmur for the past week. Another ECHO was done the other day, and the cardiologist said the first defect now looked normal and the second hole was now very small and should most definitely close on its own. This doctor did not even recommend a follow-up ECHO in a month as he felt THAT confident with everything closing completely on its own. WOO HOO!!!! God is SO good. We have been praying and praying!

On a side note, Nana was thrown a Grandmother's Shower recently by the women up at Curve's where everyone brought a book to build a library for the babies. The total count of books to date was over 180!!!!! The books are amazing and I know the babies will LOVE them!! At that same shower, we received some really sweet handmade items including the most adorable booties that look like little chicks. TOO CUTE! We also received the most gorgeous caps that will make the cutest photo opportunity once the babies have bigger heads.

I almost forgot to give a weight update.....London is now 5 lbs. 6 oz. and Jones is 5 lbs. 2 oz!!
